Julian Krozel has been influenced by the Bay Area Figurative Art movement of the 50s and 60s. Starting with portraits and figurative drawings during COVID, he began to work with the figure in the studio, in public spaces, and in weekly live figurative modeling sessions. The process starts with abstract colorful mark making, and then moves towards figurative works as the painting suggests a figurative form. Large expressionistic marks can be seen throughout his works as well as other elements such as scraping, dripping, dry brushing, and a sense of randomness that keeps his paintings original and unique. Jazz fusion has been the main music influence during his art sessions. Pat Metheny, George Duke, Weather Report, and Miles Davis are typical music inspirations while painting. Artist Influences: Jimmy Krozel, Diebenkorn, Brown, Wonner, McCuddin , Park, and Oliveira.
